EXPERIENCE NABOISHO

Because the Mara Naboisho Conservancy is not governed by the same rules that apply to national parks, there is the flexibility to experience something truly profound on your safari holiday and to see and do things not possible in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The passion and expertise of the guides at Naboisho facilitate this experience.
Take a walking safari and discover ecosystems that are so often ignored. Spend the night in a transient fly camp and enjoy the simple pleasure of a meal cooked over a campfire. Head out on a night game drive in search of elusive nocturnal creatures that are rarely seen during the day. Or join the Mara Naboisho Lion Project as they track lions across the conservancy. If your interests extend beyond wildlife to include the indigenous people and culture, a visit to one of the Maasai villages on the edges of the conservancy can be arranged.

Variety is what distinguishes the exceptional from the mundane. Whatever things you would like to see and do, at the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, you have the freedom to choose. And that makes all the difference.

Game Drives

Game drives within the Mara Naboisho Conservancy are offered twice per day, and although excursions to the adjoining Maasai Mara National Reserve are often conducted you’ll relish the freedom within the conservancy.

Game Drives At Night

There’s also the opportunity to see some of Kenya’s famous ‘nightlife’, with unforgettable night drives permitted within the conservancy.

Off-Road Game Drives

Here, on privately owned land, guides and guests have more liberty to explore: off-road driving is permitted to track down once-in-a-lifetime sightings, while bush picnics and sundowner drinks make for memorable moments in the heart of the East African bush.

Bush Breakfasts and Picnics

For those keen to get in some early game viewing or maximize their time watching game our camp chef can prepare a delicious packed breakfast or lunch.

Interpretive Bush Walks

In between morning and afternoon game drives explore the sights, smells and sounds of the African bush on a leisurely 1-2 hour walk in the surrounds of the Camp, accompanied by an armed guide and Maasai tracker

Research Project

54c7ad34-2cff-4c4e-8ea9-6e9d0948e3f0
With Naboisho’s focus on conservation, a number of wildlife research programmes are conducted within the conservancy, and researchers in residence are often available to share their exciting findings with guests.

Walking Safari

There is no better way to experience the wilderness of East Africa than on foot, and at Naboisho Camp you’ll find one of the best walking-safari guides on the continent.

Roelof Schutte, who is also the manager of this intimate eight-tent camp, has years of experience in tracking and exploring on foot which allows him to lead adventurous guests into pristine, but otherwise inaccessible, corners of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. You’ll get up close to herds of giraffe grazing lazily on the tops of the ever-present acacias, while a sudden halt could indicate the presence of lion nearby. African wild dog, topi, hyena and cheetah are just a handful of the other species regularly encountered by guests exploring on foot.

Fly and Bush Camping

effacc64-b685-4867-9b17-0d660fe06ab0
If you can’t bear to drag yourself away when the sun sets over the distant Mara plains, overnight ‘fly’ camping is also possible with comfortable dome tents erected in a quiet corner of the conservancy, and all the comforts of the main camp laid on by our enthusiastic guides.

Cultural Visits

09737326-6451-4672-8166-49858e54d691
Naboisho Camp’s guides are mostly drawn from local Maasai communities, allowing you a unique insight into the rich culture that defines this corner of East Africa. Naboisho guides are always eager to share their culture with interested guests, and visits to nearby communities and homesteads are easily arranged.
